Art, like wine, is a reflection of time—both are alive, evolving, and revealing their depth with each passing moment.
I was born in Eastern Siberia, Russia, and for as long as I can remember, drawing has been my truest form of expression. My artistic journey began in childhood, nurtured through years of study at an art school. Later, I moved to Moscow to pursue a degree in Architecture and Interior Design—a path that refined my sense of aesthetics and composition.
As I traveled, my fascination with wine deepened. Its nuances, its ability to capture emotion and history in a single glass, intrigued me. A chance encounter at a masterclass in Moscow introduced me to the idea of painting with wine—a concept that lingered in my mind for years.
Fate intervened when I found myself unexpectedly staying in Portugal due to quarantine restrictions. I took it as a sign—a call to finally merge my greatest passions: art, wine, and human connection. This is how The World is Wine was born.
Since 2019, I have been living in Portugal, immersing myself in its language, culture, and traditions. My work is more than just portraiture; it is an intimate dialogue between the fluidity of wine and the essence of the human spirit. Each piece is a testament to time, transformation, and the stories we carry.
So when people ask me, “What do you do in your free time?” my answer is simple: I create.
Sincerely,
Katrin
